Transperth

Tertiary SmartRider (WA)

Discounted Transperth fares for full-time students at WA universities and TAFE.

GovernmentApply or sign upDiscount

$10

The card costs $10, including $5 of credit, at most institutions.

Who can get it

  • Full-time students at a Western Australian university or TAFE college.
  • Full-time is set by your institution. For example, 24 credit points at UWA or 12 contact hours a week at Notre Dame.

What you'll need

  • A second photo ID, such as a driver's licence. Your student ID doesn't count as proof of full-time study.

How to claim

  1. Curtin, ECU, Murdoch, UWA and TAFE: get a SmartRider and register it through your institution's portal or form, then tag on and off to activate the concession.
  2. Notre Dame and other colleges: fill in the Tertiary SmartRider application, have Student Administration sign it, and take it to a Transperth sales outlet.

Conditions and catches

  • Part-time and correspondence students can't apply, and neither can students from interstate or overseas institutions.
  • At Notre Dame and other colleges the concession expires on 31 March of the next year, so reapply before then.
  • Transperth doesn't state the size of the discount, so no figure is shown.
